On the occasion of the opening of the 20th CPC National Congress of the Communist Party of China, CCTV Channel 1’s “Topics in Focus” - “10 years Answer Sheet” special program introduced the international education achievements of Belt and Road School (BRS), Beijing Normal University (BNU).

Since the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) was put forward, Belt and Road cooperation, as an important measure promoting China’s opening up in the new era, a top-level design for economic diplomacy, and a practical platform advocating building a community with a shared future for mankind, has seen a smooth opening and achieved solid results. In terms of promoting people-to-people connections among countries joining the Belt and Road, BRI international education and talents development in China has produced successful results under the guidance of the Educational Action Plan on Belt and Road Cooperation issued by the Ministry of Education.

The BNU Party Committee attaches great importance to BRI international education and has actively implemented the initiative put forward by President Xi Jinping. To vigorously carry out BRI international talents development, BRS, founded in 2018, strived to advance BRI theoretical research by establishing the BRI discipline system and discourse system. Besides, BRS has actively participated in national BRI policy research and decision-making discussions, with relevant projects achieving fruitful results. Taking the BRI international talents development as an example, so far, BRS has trained 491 students from 89 countries. Now, more than half of the graduates are working in diferent central government organizations, such as the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Defense, Presidential Palace, and the parliament. 21% of the graduates are working in enterprises, 7.4% in universities, 4.2% in the fnancial sector, and 1.3% are pursuing their PhDs. BRS’s international education programs have played a positive role in promoting people-to-people exchanges between China and relevant countries by providing talent and intellectual support to high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. The programs have promoted BNU international education and enhanced the university’s international infuence.
