Myanmar-Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations
I am Ei Ei Khin, Staff Officer in the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) under the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations(MIFER) from Myanmar . Currently, I am studying in Emerging Markets Institute(EMI), Belt and Road School (BRS) from Beijing Normal University(BNU) as a student of Master of Business Administration(MBA) supported by Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China (MOFCOM) which has been a deeply meaningful journey both personally and professionally. Since, I applied MOFCOM scholarship program from CSC website , I chose BNU among them other universities in China due to its strong academic reputation and global vision. The Emerging Markets Institute (EMI) offers valuable insights into developing economies, aligning with my career goals. The Belt and Road School (BRS) provides an excellent platform for international cooperation and development. Moreover, they offer the ideal environment for both personal and professional growth.
The Belt and Road Initiative plays a crucial role in shaping Myanmar’s international relations and development landscape. As a professional engaged in foreign investment and economic cooperation, the knowledge and insights gained from this program have provided me with a strong foundation to enhance regional partnerships and contribute meaningfully to policy development. The program did not just offer academic learning but also real-world relevance.
One of the most memorable highlights of my moment at BNU was the Field Trip to Nanyang City of Henan Province and Yantian Village, Dongguan City of Guangdong Province from 10th to 15th November 2024. This trip offered a profound opportunity to explore China’s development in governance, technology, agriculture, manufacturing, and culture. I learned about smart agriculture, the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, garment industry development, advanced manufacturing, and especially Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which impressed me the most. During the field trip, we had hands-on experiences like visiting JD Logistics Park, Shinano Motor Co., JD Z·Town, and Tian An Cyber Park. The practical exposure to these dynamic sectors broadened my perspective on China's holistic development model. The visit to Dengzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital was a deeply enriching experience. I not only received treatment but also learned about acupuncture, cupping, and the philosophy of TCM, which I now share with friends and colleagues back home. These journeys provided me with invaluable insights that go beyond textbooks. They made me reflect on how development policies and innovation can be tailored to local needs while maintaining global relevance. I would sincerely like to thank EMI for organizing such a well-structured, safe, and educational field experience that has become a treasured part of my academic journey.
Furthermore, the academic curriculum and field trips, one of the most impactful components of my MBA journey was the Practicum Management experience. This module provided an invaluable opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world business contexts. Working collaboratively with fellow students on real case studies and strategic business challenges allowed me to sharpen my problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership skills. It bridged the gap between academia and practical business execution, reinforcing my understanding of management principles in a dynamic and multicultural environment. The practicum not only enriched my professional capabilities but also strengthened my confidence in navigating complex investment and economic development scenarios relevant to Myanmar’s context.
Moreover, during this academic year, I was fortunate to participate in various activities that connected classroom knowledge with current geopolitical and economic realities. In addition to , I had the honor to attend the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund Information Session & 2025 New Year Reception of the House of Foreign-Aid Programs Trainees as a representative of BNU. This was an unforgettable moment, giving me opportunities to connect with global peers and learn about international cooperation mechanisms.
I was also proud to participate in the "BRI in My Eyes" interview shooting organized by Xinhua Media. It was my first media appearance, and though I was nervous, it gave me a voice to share perspectives about China and Myanmar with a broader audience.
Looking back, this journey was made possible because of the MOFCOM scholarship and the exceptional support from BRS. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to be part of this prestigious institution and will always carry forward the knowledge and experiences gained here to contribute to Myanmar’s development.
In conclusion, I am deeply grateful to all my professors for their invaluable guidance and encouragement, which have enriched me both academically and personally. My sincere thanks also go to the EMI Office for their tireless support and for organizing such meaningful programs that created unforgettable experiences. I would also like to express my heartfelt appreciation to MOFCOM for providing this exceptional scholarship opportunity, and to the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations (MIFER) for supporting my participation in this journey. Throughout this experience, I was fortunate to build meaningful friendships and receive kindness and assistance from many warm-hearted Chinese people, which made my stay in China even more enjoyable. If I will have the greatest opportunity to study Ph.D in the future, I would love to return to China because I feel happy here. China becomes a place of inspiration, learning, and treasured memories for me. Then, I will apply all of the knowledge that gained from BNU to my workplace that will fully support to MIFER.
